The birth of your children is without doubt one of the best moments of your life, after which you want to enjoy every single minute with your baby watching him/her grow, making the first steps, uttering the first words,… And what better way to document these valuable moments than by creating a photo book featuring your little bundle of joy?
But what to include in such a photo book? How to arrange the photos? What templates would be the ideal? Follow our tips and you will find a way to make the most out of your baby photo book and the pictures of the apple of your eye.
Don’t Strive for Perfection
Your baby is perfect the way he/she is, so your photo book shouldn’t be perfect either.
Plus you are not a professional photographer, your baby is not a professional model (yet), therefore don’t expect pitch perfection – and neither should the viewers of your book.
In other words, make a photo book which you and those whom you are gifting your book will enjoy.
Few Photos Are Enough
Spending quality time with your little one is always enjoyable, but you don’t have to take pictures of every action he/she takes. One photo per week is more than enough to showcase how much your baby has grown and to document the subtle changes.
And before you ask, you can take multiple photos at the same time and select the best one for your photo book.
No Clichéd Captions
We beg you to forget quotations of famous writers, actors, painters etc. because those make everybody cringe on Facebook. Now imagine the same reaction, but to your horror, under the photos of your baby. Instead, go for the simplest solution and word your own feelings. Better yet; ask family members, friends, acquaintances to express their feelings towards your little boy/girl in written form. Just filter out the not so pleasant captions, we’re talking about a happy book after all.
Consistency on Your Pictures
Don’t worry, you don’t have to take your pictures from your baby in the exact same clothes on the same locations; you can easily create consistency by simply dressing up your baby in clothes that have the same color or pattern.
The same goes for holiday themed photos, but in those cases you should pick a dress or background that matches the particular holiday.
Choosing the Right Photo Book
If you look around the internet or you check out our reviews, you will find out that almost all photo book builders provide their customers baby themes (sometimes under the “Family” category), which you can still customize any way you want by adding/removing pictures, text boxes, stickers etc. The same goes for the covers, the paper type, the number of pages, photos per page and extra accessories – just be careful not to overwhelm yourself.
Remember: the only thing that matters is that you and those who want a copy of your book love the final product and enjoy all those adorable pictures you took from the apple of your eye.
