When it comes to looking into any service or product it is important to take in feedback and comments from a wide range of sources, and while our reviews and comparisons are a great part of that it can also be useful to utilize the thoughts of other users, too. In fact, most potential customers look around web forums first, asking the opinion of fellow users to help pick a product accordingly – and photo books are no different.
And so we take a look at such a community – namely Reddit – and see what Redditors have to say about different photo book builders and how they can help others in creating the ideal photo book.
The Best Reddit-Supported Photo Book Builder Is…
Whether you go the subcategory /r/photography or /r/weddingplanning, there are plenty of posts where Redditors ask fellow users to recommend them a decent, cheap photo book service. And the results are pretty interesting, especially in the wedding planning category where no ultimate champion was crowned – but we’ll get to that soon.
Focusing on the best place to look for photo book related posts, the ‘photography’ subreddit, you might be surprised to see that none of our top picks are close to dethroning the ultimate Reddit-approved photo book creator, Blurb. In fact, Shutterfly is barely mentioned, while Mixbook or Collage.com are basically non-existent in these particular sets of posts. However, Blurb is almost universally praised by Redditors – even in a comparison between Snapfish and AdoramaPix – mostly due to its budget-friendly pricing policy and very simplistic online editor, Bookify. The second most mentioned photo book editor on Reddit is AdoramaPix which is mostly adored (pun intended) for its quality, but is still sometimes criticized for its prices.
As for the ‘weddingplanning’ subreddit, recommendations are a hodgepodge of opinions, with everybody having their own thoughts about which is the best photo book builder. From Mixbook and Shutterfly to AdoramaPix, Blurb, and Mpix everything is mentioned as a source of perfect wedding photo books – even MyPublisher, which fully merged into Shutterfly in May 15 2017.
Other Recommendations
Quite interestingly both of the subreddits mentioned mostly contain posts about recommendations on photo book services but not on how to create your own photo book. Admittedly there are some posts dealing with the best photo books as inspirations or a part of collections and we even found references to Groovebook’s appearance on ABC’s Shark Tank, but only an insignificant amount of questions are asked about what you should include in a photo book and how.
Still, there is some clever advice to be found on why customers should go for photo books instead of photo albums, what to pay attention to when you want to sell your creations, and sometimes you can bump into Redditors who want to give away their photo book vouchers for free.
So in other words, if you have no idea which photo book editor is the best and you want to hear the opinions of others, Reddit has a number of thoughts and comments you can turn to any time and they will gladly direct you to the right solution. Or, more likely, they’ll just suggest Blurb…
