It is quite unbelievable that AdoramaPix has been on the market since 1996. But if you go to the company’s website and check out the various products, which includes photo and metal prints, canvases, collages and greeting and gift cards, it becomes obvious that this is a company worth checking out – especially if you want to create photo books. With AdoramaPix you can create the photo book of your dreams either from a computer or an iPad. On both devices you have plenty of customization tools with which you can turn blank pages or the already exciting themes into real masterpieces. Your books can be created from scratch or from a PDF file using premium photo paper, various covers, different sizes and shapes with delivery within a short period of time to your doorstep or to one of the shops of AdoramaPix. And if you still have doubts regarding this company, let us tell you that the base prices and even the shipping fees are very cost-friendly, which can be reduced even more thanks to temporary promotions.
AdoramaPix Photo Books Video Introduction
Sample Photo Book Made in AdoramaPix
In the editor, which is available through an app named aPixPublisher for iPad too, you can choose from all cover types, shapes, sizes, papers with minimal or no restrictions, and while making your selection you continuously see the approximate price of the final product. AdoramaPix gives you the option to turn books in PDF format into a photo book too if you don’t fancy choosing existing design elements or starting a book from scratch. Picture uploading is also easy, because you can use pictures stored on cloud servers/hard drives, or you can use AdoramaPix’s unlimited photo storage and the AdoramaPix Uploader mobile app.
Putting in pictures is easy as you have the option to use the auto-fill or, if you prefer doing everything by yourself, place the pictures manually into the book and make minor modifications thereon regarding size, angle and opacity. You can also crop your pictures manually, but keep in mind that if you use a preset theme with preset photo holders, your landscape/square pictures will be cropped anyway. To avoid this, you have to delete the preset photo holders and recreate their settings manually after you put your own, unaltered pictures into the book. The same rules apply to the text holders; they are not highlighted when you move your cursor over them, so moving them, especially if the text is placed onto a picture, is a bit hard. Furthermore, to modify their content, you have to double-click on the default text.
Thankfully all of the above are just minor annoyances overshadowed by the many extra features coming with AdoramaPix. You can choose from thousands of backdrops, select from countless photo frames to break the hegemony of the dull rectangular ones, put a smile on your readers’ faces with various stickers and even add QR codes to your books. You can also modify the default layouts, covers, the number of pages and themes if you changed your mind, and if you let AdoramaPix put its logo on the selectable flyleaves, you get them for free. Once you are done and saved your book, you can download it in PDF, view it in the spectacular preview mode, and share your masterpieces with others to be viewed or even be purchased.
We already mentioned that it is virtually impossible to customize your photo book within a short period of time with AdoramaPix due to the many customization options offered by the software. And the same is true for the available themes and styles, so don’t be surprised if you end up spending hours just selecting the theme of your book.
In AdoramaPix there are 168 themes in total spread under 12 categories including general, family, travel, love, children, wedding, holiday, seasons and so on. And as you’ve read in the previous section, your decision regarding the theme – and the cover for that matter – is never permanent as you can change it while you are still working on your book. The only thing that might confuse you is that many of these themes can be found under multiple categories at the same time. However, this way you are encouraged to think outside the usual preconceptions and you may end up choosing a theme from a different category that you can customize into the perfect look and feel for your book.
Just like in the case of themes, there are plenty of options to choose from when it comes to photo book types. But no matter what type of book you prefer, the first thing you have to decide is the cover: you can choose from hard cover, leather cover (leather lux and genuine leather) and fabric cover (regular or die-cut) books. After that, you can pick one of the 6 available paper types your photos will be printed on. Always be sure to decide on the paper in advance because not all paper types are available for all book sizes. Speaking of sizes, there are 14 of them ranging from 6×4.5 to 12×15 (in square, landscape and portrait shapes) but if you choose a leather cover, the number of available sizes reduces to 8.
Want to know how a book looks in different shapes and sizes? Just go to the pricing page of AdoramaPix and hover over the different sizes listed therein to see a preview of the preferred book.
Remember to always choose the paper and the number of pages first because these features determine the final price tag. If you select the most cost-friendly paper type of the six (Luster Finish) and pick for instance the 8×8 size, the base price of a 10-page long photo book with hard cover is $19.99, which increases with $2.00 with each additional 2 pages. The maximum amount you have to pay for the biggest, 100-page long book in this size is $109.99. Leather cover 8×8 size books start from $45.00 or $70.00 (depending on the type of leather), while fabric cover books in this size have a base price of $24.99 or $29.99.
Books are processed within 2–4 days, after which they are either dropped off at AdoramaPix’s two stores or they can be shipped for a base price of $5.00 per product type.
Unfortunately there are not too many permanent ways to reduce the price tags. You can get your products shipped for free if you order in the amount of or more than $49 within the U.S., or you can get a $10.00 coupon for yourself and a $5.00 voucher for your friend with the Invite Friend promotion.

AdoramaPix offers an enjoyable online photo book editor that offers plenty of great features and a multitude of finishing options for your printed book. There are a couple of hiccups in the online editor that we couldn’t help but notice, such as the auto-cropping of photos if you use the preset picture holders and the somewhat clumsy way of moving the text boxes. Customer service is of a basic level, soft cover books are out of question, worldwide shipping is not offered and there are but few promotions you can enjoy when there aren’t any coupons available. However, customizing your books is very enjoyable, the number of themes and their combinability is extremely high and if you are an iPad user, you can create your photo books on your tablet, too. And if you need further proof that AdoramaPix is worth trusting with your most precious photos, just take a look at various photo books types and the cost-friendly shipping prices.
